The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education has launched the first of a series of LAB (Learn, Act, Build) Schools.

The Sierra Leone LAB Schools are government schools that are centres of excellence for learning and teaching innovation. They pioneer and evaluate government curricula and explore new learning and teaching methods.

The first Sierra Leone LAB School, the Dr. Kadi A. Sesay Girls Secondary School, was opened today in Port Loko— named after the first female in Port Loko to achieve a PhD. It’s unique profile and emphasis is a multi-grade environment, beginning with junior secondary school girls. The first cohort of students are 100 girls enrolled in JSS 1.
