Hon. Conrad Sackey, heads the Ministry and provides political leadership in delivering the Government’s Free Quality School Education to all children in Sierra Leone.
Mr. Sackey hails from a family that has produced four generations of Teachers. He has held prominent positions in education at home and abroad that prepared him for this new role. They include, but not limited to, Chair of the Sierra Leone Teaching Service Commission, Chief Executive Officer of the Windsor Fellowship, a national education charity in the UK, Head of Information and Advice at Anglia Ruskin University, Strategic Manager, London East Connexion Partnership (LECP), a sub-regional partnership that coordinated integrated support in education.
He holds a MA in Education from the Institute of Education, University College London, B.Sc. Hons from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, awarded Chartered Director status from the Institute of Directors, United Kingdom. This is the professional qualification for company directors. Previously served as a board member of the African Federation of Teaching Authorities and in several other boards. He is a 2008 Travelling Fellow of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, UK.
Minister Conrad Sackey vows to consolidate and accelerate gains made by his predecessor, Dr. Moinina David Sengeh by further strengthening international and national partnerships, fast-tracking innovation as a vehicle to leapfrog the Sierra Leone education system into the 21st century, and embedding foundation learning at the heart of the education system.

The Revitalising Education Development in Sierra Leone (REDISL) Project was funded by three entities namely, the branch of the World Bank Group known as the International Development Association (IDA)
As per the Country Programme 2020-2023, proposed $53 million budget programme focusing on 1) Systems Strengthening, 2) Early Childhood Development, 3) Quality and Learning, and 4) ensuring Adolescents access to learning.
DFID Sierra Leone is committed to improving the lives of young people in the country and supports the human capital development mission of the government and the flagship Free Quality School Education programme.
EU – The EU supports education in Sierra Leone through global multilateral initiatives, such as the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), of which the European Commission is one of the main contributors.
