MBSSE COVID-19 RESPONSE PLAN ACTIVITIES

The Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) ordered the closure of all educational institutions on 31st March 2020 as part of a broader response to mitigating the effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Sierra Leone. Consequently, the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has taken proactive steps to ensure our children’s continued welfare, learning and their general well- being are protected, especially the most vulnerable. The MBSSE reinstituted school safety protocols including handwashing,temperature checks and isolation rooms in all schools before schools closed. The MBSSE has undertaken several activities and initiatives as part of our COVID-19 response, below are five:

1. Establishment of the Education Emergency Taskforce

2. Continuous Learning via Radio Teaching Programme: Championed by the Teaching Service

3. School Feeding and Distribution of Dry Ration

4. Development & Implementation of Transformational Policies

5.Campaign on Zero Pregnancy
